The OSP Designer will target complex engineering and analytical activities of network design, engineering, and implementation. In this job you will also perform GIS/CAD duties related to the design of outside plant (OSP) telecommunications projects, ie. FTTx, Joint Trench, Water Treatment Facilities, Electric substations, relocation of infrastructure, damaged-service, and additional Utility Facilities.In addition to the technical aspects of this job, you excel at taking initiative and driving projects forward, communicating and sharing information effectively and appropriately, possess sound critical thinking and decision-making ability, and strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to establish effective relationships with internal and external customers.Live and Work in Colordo Springs!   • Duties include, but are not limited to, the design/layout of conduit/fiber networks, preparation of engineering drawings, interaction with stakeholders and field audits
  • Assist with design plans, specifications, reports, maps, schedules, estimates, data collection, documents and agreements as needed
  • Use of GIS/CAD software and equipment to prepare and revise technical drawings using company established standard procedures
  • Provide quality control by reviewing completed work to ensure compliance with Engineering quality standards
  • Work is both independent and collaborative , working with design team to complete various design opportunities
  • Communicate consistently with project managers, clients, contractors and supervisor
  • Read and interpret construction plans to assist with client management and effectively communicate responses to inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Providing support and service through excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skillsPlease note that working conditions of performing this job include:
    • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation, with the ability to respond to calls within 30 minutes
    • On Call rotation is expected to last for 12 - 18 months or until we get our records accurately reflect what we have in our network for fiber and cross connects.
    • The role may require working outdoors in inclement weather in various degrees of hot and cold temperaturesWho You Are..
      • Associate degree in telecommunications, drafting technology or experience in a related field
      • 5+ years of experience in fiber design and construction management including understanding of aerial, underground, OSP fiber and substructure design
      • Must be able to complete CFOS-H certifications within 1 year of hire date
      • Knowledge of telephone industry standards, local telecom practices and procedures, local city state and governmental rules and regulations
      • Experience with OSP database applications
      • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's licenseis required
      • Highly Valued/Beneficial:
      • Knowledge of O-Calc or other Pole Loading Analysis software
      • Certified Fiber Optic Technician and Certified Fiber Optic Specialist - Fiber to the Home
